Infrastructure work:
- tunnel for remote administration of workstation
- trying to make the Install Server work ☹
Where[edit]
How it went[edit]
Present were koanhead, Lee, grisimal and Tom. One new person, Josh, came in and filled out the new-volunteer form. koanhead left the form with the FCS front desk in order that it might find its way to Jon. Front desk stapled the form closed so in order to protect Josh's data from prying eyes. Note that his name may not actually be Josh.
A person in a wheelchair came to ask for help with his Windows laptop. Tom graciously volunteered his time and expertise to help this person, and demonstrated the use of Puppy Linux.
We spent some time trying to get the Install Server setup working. We made some progress but it's still not working yet. Part of the problem is a massive confusion of services installed and misconfigured on the admin workstation. This machine does not need dnsmasq!
Sudoers, please exercise restraint in adding new software to this machine. If you must install services (or large things like desktop environments or metapackages) please communicate this need on the list and/or document your changes!
